Reporting to the Director of Inclusive Learning, and based out of Wainwright, the Inclusive Learning - Early Childhood Services (ECS) Lead Teacher must be committed to inclusive principles and approaches that celebrate and support diversity; embody exemplary teaching and leadership qualities; and demonstrate the ability to provide clear, consistent, collaborative, and student-centered guidance across all educational environments.

Specific schedule will be determined in consultation with the successful candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult and collaborate with School Administration, School-based staff, and Child/Student Learning Team members to support and enhance inclusive principles and practices across all educational environments, including Early Childhood Services
  • Consult and collaborate with division team members, external professionals, and community agencies to support and enhance inclusive principles and practices, including the continuum of inclusive supports
  • Ensure that clear, timely, and positive communications with families and team members occur
  • Monitor, support, and optimize Early Childhood Services programs for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Administer and/or support appropriate screens and Level B assessments for program development and implementation
  • Coordinate professional assessments for program placement and implementation
  • Work with child/student learning teams, including parents, to develop and implement timely and effective programming plans, services and supports
  • Provide and support the implementation of inclusive strategies, resources, and programming recommendations for children/students across all educational environments, including Early Childhood Services
  • Facilitate, support, and monitor the development and implementation of Individual Support Plans (ISP), Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP), Medical Management Plans, Safety Plans, etc.
  • Coach and mentor Child/Student Learning Team members in inclusive principles and best practices
  • Coordinate professional development opportunities for Inclusive Learning and Early Childhood Services
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Director of Inclusive Learning

  • Must be flexible and adaptable in meeting emergent division needs

Education & Experience:

  • Possess an Alberta Teacher Certificate or eligibility, graduate work in Inclusive Learning is an asset
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience - in Inclusive Learning and/or Early Childhood Services (ECS) preferred
  • Experience in early literacy and numeracy program development is advantageous
  • A Valid Alberta Drivers license

This position will involve travel throughout the division, so a valid Alberta Drivers License will be required. When available a division-supplied fleet vehicle can be used. However, there may be occasions when access to a personal vehicle is necessary.
