Position Summary:


The Mobile Integrated Team (MIT) Supervisor position oversees staff who provide life skills training, as well as outreach and engagement with people eligible for adult developmental services who are vulnerable and at risk due to their multi-sector complex needs.

The MIT is an innovative model of service that provides direct hands on support. MIT's integrated framework draws upon best practices from both mental health and developmental service sectors.

Support provided is flexible, mobile and responsive to people who fall through the gaps of service and have multi-sector complex needs which may be related to mental health, addictions, homelessness, or involvement with the law.

MIT engages with people whenever the need arises, whatever their situation, wherever they are in our community, and wherever they are within the continuum of service such as waiting for services, receiving services, or in urgent need.

The MIT Supervisor is responsible for implementation and oversight of the MIT service at all levels.

The MIT Supervisor is also expected to explore best practices, identify trends and gaps in service, and deliver a service that improves people's overall quality of life and wellbeing.


The MIT Supervisor will provide leadership and direction to ensure steps are taken to achieve the vison, goals and objectives of the MIT framework.

The framework is based on an approach that is person-centered, culturally appropriate, and community-based.

The MIT Supervisor ensures the team is providing a service that is collaborative, innovative and flexible so that people receiving support can build on their skills and make meaningful connections within the community.

Through strong leadership, the MIT Supervisor will cultivate a team environment that promotes creativity, trust, acceptance and accountability.

This position will strengthen existing partnerships while exploring new opportunities, educate the community and advocate for and with adults who have multi-sector complex needs.


Responsibilities include:

A. Team Coordination

  • Organize MIT members to provide direct, flexible, mobile and responsive support Monday to Sunday based on people's needs.
  • Encourage MIT members to help people become citizens of the community in a way that reduces their reliance on crisis emergency services.
  • Flexible hours may be required in order to provide supervision during weekday evenings and weekends.
B. Program Support

  • Explore best practices and develop program tools, templates, guidelines and procedures to assist and improve MIT work.
  • Oversee data collection necessary for Ministry reporting, program evaluation, identifying trends and gaps in service, and sharing information with various service systems in an effort to improve community programs and services.
  • Ensure the MIT works within a personcentered approach.
  • Ensure that MIT works within an antiracism, antioppression, culturally and language appropriate framework.
C. Program Resources and Funding

  • Explore funding opportunities to sustain MIT program expenses.
  • Compile and develop program material to submit with grants and funding proposals.
D. Community Capacity Development & Networking

  • Build and strengthen community partnership, advocate for service system change and create opportunities in support of MIT recipients.
  • Attend community meetings, events or conferences to promote MIT, as well as coordinate opportunities with Ministry representative and other community leaders to increase awareness of MIT.
  • Maintain knowledge of the issues affecting recipients of MIT.
  • Maintain knowledge of resources and services available to recipients of MIT.
  • Seek guidance and build networks with Indigenous groups, communities, and services, so that the MIT can create opportunity and space for greater understanding and cultural healing.

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in Social Work or an acceptable Human Service discipline is required. 3 years working experience leading teams is required.
  • Familiarity with adult developmental services and other community sectors such as mental health, addictions, Indigenous and cultural based services, Justice, Housing and Health is required.
  • Excellent verbal, nonverbal, and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to communicate in French would be an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suites (Outlook/Word/Excel). Ability to develop and maintain a strong relationship with people who are difficult to engage and accept services.
  • Requires an aptitude for creativity and outofthe box thinking and wiliness to explore new and unique ways of service delivery.
