What you'll do

Responsibilities

Working under the Regional Facilities Manager, Facilities and Ancillary Services, the Facilities Manager will oversee the organization and execution of maintenance and custodial services for facilities. The focus is on ensuring that all areas are clean, safe, attractive, and conducive to learning and working.

In this role, you will:

  • Implement and oversee maintenance programs.
  • Foster a culture of improvement and engage in campus initiatives.
  • Provide oversight for construction projects in collaboration with the Planning and Projects Manager.
  • Cultivate relationships with academic and administrative divisions, providing counsel on operational matters.
  • Lead and mentor a team of facilities staff, offering guidance and ensuring a collaborative environment.
  • Develop strategies to align facility plans with evolving needs and overarching goals.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma or degree in a related field with a P. Tech or C. Tech, or CEFP designation, and relevant work experience.
  • Preference for candidates with at least five (5) years of related experience, including three (3) years in a supervisory role.

Technical:

  • Experience with commercial building systems, codes, and standards.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance and Facilities Management.
  • Experience in a unionized setting.
  • Skills in operational and resource management, budget planning, and project management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Professional Skills:

  • High level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning.

Previous experience in a post-secondary setting is an asset.
