Backed by private equity, this fast growing company (the "Company") has ~200 locations and ~2,500 employees across North America. The company is the largest in this sector in North America. The head office is in Guelph and the role requires a minimum of 3 days in the office.
The Role:
The Company is seeking to hire a Director Application Development.
The Director will lead a development team responsible for architecting and developing highly scalable web and mobile applications that serve to enable the business to derive value and efficiency and solve business challenges.
The Director will create significant positive impact to the business using modern web technologies, automation, data engineering, and cloud engineering.
Importantly, the successful candidate will embrace the entrepreneurial world and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. Culture fit will be highly valued. Of particular importance, the individual will lead a team of smart and driven developers.Key Responsibilities:
Manage and grow a small team of internal Full Stack developers and integrate with our onshore external development partner services to maximize the value delivered to the businessDesign, direct, and complete entire applications, and services from start to finish with the ability to scaleEnsure quality of programs by evaluating solutions for efficiency, scalability, and flexibilityTake an active role in mentoring and training team membersRoutinely identify and drive process improvementsEnsure solutions produced are operating as expectedParticipate in and lead code-review sessions to identify potential problems and/or alternative solutionsLead the development and implementation of technical coding standardsQualifications:BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is a plus10+ years of progressive experience in production web platform developmentProven backend coding and architecture experience with front end and backend languagesAngular and .
NET 5-6, c#, json, Xamarin Framework a mustPython experience is a bonusCloud development experience (preferably AWS)Experience with both NOSQL and Transact-SQL database platforms and integrationExperience with Message Queue PlatformsExperience with Restful API development and architectureExperience with Integrated Testing (Postman, Fiddler etc.)Experience with DEVOPsProven experience in new application development/ architecture in a technical capacity (developer/ architect)Proven experience working in Agile development environmentsStrong presentation skillsDemonstrated understanding of entire development cycle, from concept to deployment and monitoringRetail application/solution experience is a bonusOther Characteristics:
