The Canadian operation of GEI Consultants, (GEI), one of North America's leading engineering and science consulting firms is expanding in Ontario, Canada. This opportunity is located in our Markham, Ontario office and the successful candidate will join our existing technical team working on projects across Ontario, Canada and the US.

While most of our team members are concentrated in southern Ontario, we are not limited by geography, nor do we buy into the world of daily commuting. Our team operates from virtual, home-based offices to reduce the environmental and social effects of commuting and to help extend our geographic presence across the marketplace. We stay connected through regular meetings, the use of a wide array of technology, and specialized collaborative workspaces

  • Develop and maintain key and target client relationships
  • Manage small to large geotechnical / geostructural projects including field activities
  • Lead the detail technical analysis and design teams including completing and reviewing FEA works
  • Manage, train, and mentor junior staff on project related scopes of work
  • Perform and oversee engineering calculations and design drawings related to geotechnical work including excavation design, specialty foundation design, drilled shafts, tunnels, slurry walls, and instrumentation
  • Prepare feasibility studies and other technical analysis for construction procedures
  • Prepare proposals for professional services and strive to develop new business in areas of specialty. Support other GEI offices with proposals and the delivery of engineering services
  • Represent GEI in communications and conferences pertaining to areas of specialty and to broad aspects of
  • Travel to project sites and other offices as required, including overnight

Minimum Qualifications

  • S. degree in civil or aligned engineering and an M.S. degree in Geotechnical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • 8-10 years of geostructural engineering experience is required, with structural and geotechnical background as an asset
  • Experience should include proficiency in Geostudio, LPile, Mathcad, Autocad, and other geotechnical programs. Proficiency in Plaxis, Wallap, SAP, and STAAD is a
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to work well alone and in a team atmosphere
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and review other's work
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong client relationships and desire to obtain new business
  • Must be willing to travel on temporary assignments as necessary, including field assignments
