Exciting Opportunity

We are looking for Data Specialists (Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, and Data Analyst) to be part of the Data Analytics and Insights Team at RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM). If you are eager to dive into data engineering and data product delivery, keep reading.

Data Engineer

  • Contribute to developing and delivering data product solutions, managing data pipelines, integration tools, databases, warehouses, and analytical systems.
  • Analyze business requirements for data sources, transformation, flow, and quality.
  • Create technical documents for solution designs and operational guidelines.
  • Support testing of data products and services, including automation.
  • Collaborate on strategic initiatives with internal and external partners following the software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Candidate requirements: Understand data engineering concepts, data pipelines, ETL, data quality, and data modeling.

Analytics Engineer

  • Enhance the machine learning platform for insights in GAM funds sales and marketing.
  • Explore Advanced Analytics capabilities like NLP for feature mining.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain data pipelines, improving data quality and streamlining data asset delivery to end users.
  • Research and address customer inquiries, and contribute to ad-hoc tasks.
  • Document processes and upgrade procedure manuals.

Data Analyst

  • Manage security, product, and employee setup on the Eagle system.
  • Monitor data quality daily and resolve issues with data stakeholders.
  • Analyze data workflows to enhance data quality.
  • Participate in data projects to promote data literacy at GAM.
  • Update and organize DMO's Connect and Confluence pages.

Technical Skills:

Essentials:

  • Data Engineer & Analytics Engineer stream: Strong quantitative background with a degree in math/statistics/computer science/engineering as a plus. Data Analyst Stream: Strong business and finance background, preferably with a degree in Finance/Accounting/Business/Math.
  • Proficiency in SQL and large datasets.
  • Experience in coding with languages like Python.
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerization technologies.
  • Strong Unix/Linux/Bash scripting skills.
  • Knowledge of AWS or similar storage solutions.
  • Experience with DevOps CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
  • Understanding of Kubernetes/Docker compose for container orchestration.
  • Experience with cloud computing services like AWS.
  • Interest in data capabilities such as data management, governance, quality, and business intelligence tools like Excel and Tableau.

Soft Skills:

  • Effective communication and teamwork.
  • Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Collaboration across different functional areas.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Eligibility Note: To qualify for these student positions, you must either be returning to school after the work term end-date or require the full work term for graduation.
