Heat Treat Supervisor

Through continual upgrades, Patriot Forge has been able to enhance our manufacturing capabilities to better serve the needs of our ever evolving customer base.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule and prioritize heat treat production in a manner that ensures Safety, on time delivery, effective and efficient use of furnaces and other heat treat assets.
- Maximize furnace loads by consolidating heat treat cycles and minimize gas consumption.
- Determine root cause and corrective actions regarding scrap and rework.
- Manage the Heat Treat department, planning and organizing activities, developing budgets, monitoring expenditures, and manage cost control of the department
- Manage the calibration of combustion equipment, ensure furnace surveys are carried out in advance of due dates, maintain adequate stock levels of consumable heat treat specific parts and tooling.
- Manage all Heat Treat staff in a manner that promotes a positive culture. Carry out performance appraisals, wage and salary recommendations, hiring, and disciplinary actions. Manage employee vacations while maintaining production and shift coverage. Ensure all staff receive continued training
- Instill a sense of ownership in each employee and teach the employees to better understand what they are doing, why they are doing it and the impact on stages after heat treating the product
- Perform routine audits of completed heat treat cycles and confirm adherence to technical specifications and order requirements
- Ensure quality of parts before adding further cost and time to a part
- Work with senior management and sales on new product development
- Manage the condition of furnaces, furnace cars, and all other heat treat assets
- Work with maintenance staff to suggest areas of improvement that will assist in greater throughput and reduced cost
- Comply with and ensure staff comply with company policies and procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities as required and appointed by management
- Work various shifts as required
Experience/Skills/Education:
- Postsecondary education of a technical nature/Manufacturing Engineering Technician preferred
- 35 years supervisory experience
- Experience in heavy industries with cranes and other material handling equipment is an asset
- Strong organization, Decision making, planning, coordination and priority setting skills
- Strong communication skills with subordinates, coworkers, and managers
- Energetic, innovative, intuitive and constantly seeking continuous improvement
