The Communications and Marketing department provides strategic advice, guides overall messaging and positioning, and provides marketing, creative writing, editing, translation, and graphic design services.

The department also monitors changes in the physician and healthcare environments, proactively identifies risks and emerging issues, and works to ensure that CMPA messages resonate with our members.

In addition, the Communications department is integral in driving and supporting change within the Association.

POSITION OVERVIEW


Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Communications, the Marketing and Branding Specialist supports the development and execution of a CMPA branding strategy, which includes building an understanding of the nuances of the CMPA's brand and exploring how to better position the brand so that it reflects the full CMPA value proposition across all channels.

The incumbent is responsible for planning and executing tactical activities aligned with the branding strategy and working with colleagues across the department to develop and implement communication and marketing plans for CMPA products and services.

The Specialist brings the strategic mindset and critical thinking skills needed to help strengthen CMPA's brand position amongst its members and stakeholders and explore opportunities to take greater control of CMPA's public narrative.


POSITION ACTIVITIES

  • Supports the development of a CMPA branding strategy and oversees execution of strategy tactics and deliverables, including significant writing and redrafting of CMPA content (e.g. website content).
  • Supports the Request for Proposal (RFP) process to hire a branding consulting firm (who will provide market research and strategy development support) and serves as the key liaison between the firm and CMPA.
  • In collaboration with Communication and Marketing department colleagues, responsible for implementing CMPA brand standards across all channels.
  • Develops and delivers external communication and marketing strategies, plans, and products to support client groups.
  • Provides strategic, innovative marketing advice and communications support to build awareness and uptake of products and services the first 12 years of this role will include supporting the rebranding and promotion of learning products being transferred over from Saegis, CMPA's subsidiary which is now winding down.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Analyst to measure and report on the overall success of marketing strategies and individual campaigns.
  • Keeps abreast of the changing healthcare environment and proactively identifies marketing and communication opportunities.
  • Reinforces the CMPA brand, corporate mission, vision, values, and initiatives both externally and internally through written and visual storytelling.
  • Promotes continuous improvement of communications and marketing initiatives by collecting appropriate data, analyzing and measuring effectiveness, and refining strategies as required.

Teamwork and Collaboration:

  • Facilitates the flow of information within the Communications and Marketing department and across the organization.
  • Works closely with:
  • The Manager, Strategic Communications, to develop and execute the CMPA brand strategy
  • Members of the Communications department, to ensure marketing and communications activities align with CMPA's brand strategy, to embed appropriate performance metrics and measure outcomes, and to support the execution of communication activities within various lines of business
  • The Web team and Graphic Design to manage and refresh content on the CMPA website
  • People Leaders across client departments to develop and deliver communication strategies, activities and products including creating appropriate branding and messaging for learning products and events
  • The Director, Communications and Marketing to identify organizational needs and develop, execute, and manage communication strategies, products, and activities at an enterprise level
  • The Editors, Translators, and Designers on the delivery of communications products and activities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree (4 years) in a specialized field (e.g. B.Comm, Marketing, Public Relations)
  • Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in marketing, preferably three years at a senior level
  • Excellent understanding and experience with brand strategy, brand management, promotion, and external positioning
  • Proven experience executing measurable, multichannel marketing and communication plans
  • Experience working with staff and leaders at all levels, managing competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Experience working in an association with a national focus and active membership is a strong asset
  • Experience working with senior decision makers, staff, and a variety of stakeholders
