DESCRIPTION

The Vice President of Sales needs to show experience in leadership management and will be responsible for maximizing the efficiency of the company in personnel development, financial results, and operations while also balancing the needs of ADW Acosta clients and customer relationships. The VP of Sales share the responsibility for ensuring consistent profitable growth of sales revenues through effective planning, deployment, and management of regional personnel. The VP of Sales will demonstrate the ability to identify objectives, strategies, and action plans to enhance short- and long-term sales.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions of this Position:

  • Develops and maintains trustworthy and ethical relationships with ADW associates, vendors, and Costco's buying staff
  • Utilizes system reports, customer feedback, and communication to monitor the performance of all Business Managers and Client Service Representatives
  • Assists in formulating and enforcing regional policies, practices, and procedures. Collaborates with the Human Resources Associate assigned to the business as needed
  • Proactively identifies potential issues and implements timely corrective actions
  • Assists in establishing regional sales objectives by forecasting, analyzing results, and identifying trends
  • Monitors sales, costs, competition, and performance to budget as sales budgets vary by region from $1B+
  • Pursues new business development goals for the region
  • Collaborates with existing clients on packaging, pricing, formulation, and new item trends tailored for Costco
  • Conducts plant audits and inspections globally to ensure compliance with Costco's food safety and social responsibility standards
  • Translates national sales programs into regional action plans
  • Provides Costco Buyers with up-to-date market trends and industry information
  • Leads in developing, maintaining, evaluating, and motivating staff performance; participates in assigning workloads, responsibilities, and projects and takes corrective action when necessary
  • Becomes an expert; continually expands product, vendor, category, and industry knowledge
  • Develops innovative items for Costco in collaboration with existing vendors
  • Manages Expense/Office/Travel budget based on company policy
  • Oversees and directs activities for two to three ADW Branches
  • Meets the physical requirements of the role
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Sales, Marketing, Finance, or related field
  • Ten years of work experience in the food industry, including two years as a Senior Director at ADW
  • Five years of direct selling experience calling on buyers (preferably Costco)
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Consistent follow-through and organizational skills
  • Experience in project management is essential
  • Track record of generating incremental sales
  • Experience in managing a regional budget

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

  • Ability to contribute to managing the sales administration function and operational performance reporting, streamlining processes and systems whenever possible
  • Cultivating an environment conducive to superior customer service
  • Developing and maintaining high-level management relationships with Costco and vendors within ADW
  • Offering insights to all vendors regarding Costco and driving sales generation
  • Consulting with assigned vendors to determine appropriate product formulation and packaging before presenting products to Buyers
  • Understanding, evaluating, executing, and overseeing marketing programs for all assigned vendors
  • Ensuring timely resolution of issues related to deliveries, product quality, packaging, billing, etc.
  • Resolving any political conflicts proactively and providing solutions
  • Creating opportunities for vendors and increasing demand for their products
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Costco's operations and main competitors
  • Thorough understanding of each vendor's operations, capabilities, products, logistics, business strategies, and key competitors
