The Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) is an award-winning settlement agency

range from guiding immigrant entrepreneurs as they create small businesses to supporting

vulnerable newcomers to become confident, contributing members of our community. In

partnership with more than 500 community partners and generous donors and volunteers, ICA

serves as a helping hand, a listening ear, and a tireless advocate for immigrants and refugees.

We are looking for a
Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) Life Skills Worker to provide

resettlement assistance services (including housing support) to Government-Assisted Refugees

(GARs) under the Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) as prescribed by _Immigration, Refugees _
- and Citizenship Canada_. Delivers immediate and essential RAP support services and facilitates

client transitions from RAP to settlement services. Supports the RAP team with overall

resettlement, integration and housing process based on client abilities and as determined by lead

worker/coordinator/manager needs assessment and observations. You are passionate about

supporting our clients to overcome the nuanced barriers they face, and you will confidently take

initiative to identify their needs and advocate for them in their community. You build strong

relationships, and your time management skills enable you to balance multiple contract

requirements and deliver superior client service.

What you will bring to the role:

  • A passion for helping others and a positive mindset.
  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma (undergraduate degree preferred) in related discipline on
settlement/resettlement/refugee related themes, family law, immigration and refugee

studies, social work, intercultural studies, child and youth care or combination of education,

training, and/or experience.

  • Three years' work experience within social services, notforprofit and/or multicultural
environment, preferably targeting refugees.

  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Keen understanding of equity issues to support persons from diverse backgrounds with
settlement/resettlement/refugee related challenges or Indigenous backgrounds.

  • Proficient in a language other than English (Arabic, Dari, Tigrinya, Swahili or Somali)

  • Proficient in a major immigrant language.
