This role involves supporting internal policy development efforts aimed at advocating for regulatory changes aligning with Hydro One's corporate strategy:
- Conducting regulatory research to bolster internal policy development
- Coordinating the drafting of submissions
- Monitoring and analyzing regulatory policy developments in Ontario
- Supporting the governance of the Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) work, including monitoring and reporting on internal policy development activities
- Maintaining progress reporting for leadership and preparing materials for SPC and Standing Policy Working Group (SPWG)
- Facilitating internal policy development teams and providing guidance on regulatory policies and strategies
- Collaborating on OEB regulatory proceedings and compliance
Job Description:
- Support the development, approval, and submission of regulatory and policy filings to regulatory agencies
- Provide advice to Lines of Business on regulatory policies and strategies
- Contribute to the development of strategies and positions related to regulatory and policy issues
- Work with expert staff to prepare necessary business analysis and submissions
- Develop essential business relationships between Hydro One and regulatory bodies
- Assist in negotiating positions aligned with business objectives and efficient regulatory outcomes
- Prepare and present reports on project status and corrective actions
- Establish and manage budgets for submissions
- Provide advice on team members' effectiveness
- Assist in formulating process improvements for streamlined regulatory approvals
- Support the development of regulatory and policy-based special studies
- Participate in industry teams related to regulatory matters
- Act as a subject matter expert on all regulatory-related legislation and codes
- Perform other duties as needed
Selection Criteria:
Education:
- Requires knowledge of financial concepts, economics, engineering, and statistics
- Good command of English for written submissions and presentations
- Proficiency in computer applications for developing submissions and presentations
- Experience equivalent to a 4-year University training
Experience:
- Experience in Finance, Asset Management, Engineering Services, and project management
- Hands-on involvement with regulatory products from OEB and IESO
- Experience in business analysis and developing cases with internal and external stakeholders
- 8 to 10 years of experience in relevant areas
