Corporate Officer

The District of Highlands is a rural residential community with scenic beauty, native plant and animal life, and public parkland. Just northwest of Victoria, British Columbia, it is seeking a professional to join as Corporate Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervising office staff
  • Preparing Council and Committee agendas and minutes
  • Drafting and managing bylaws, policies, agreements, and contracts
  • Managing the District's records management program
  • Administering the program for processing FOI requests
  • Managing communications, including the District's website
  • Performing the duties of Chief Election Officer

The Corporate Officer exercises independent judgment, initiative, tact, courtesy, and diplomacy, while maintaining confidentiality for sensitive files.

Preferred candidates will be skilled in presenting information, developing relationships with Council members, staff, and volunteers, and have strong customer service abilities.

Qualifications include a minimum of five (5) years' experience in local government administration, with preference for a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation and MATI program courses.

The District offers a competitive benefits program, professional development commitment, and an inclusive work environment. The proposed annual salary is $115,000.
