Responsibilities
- Provide emotional and psychological support to patients throughout their fertility journey
- Educate and counsel patients on topics such as infertility and the stress of fertility treatment, managing uncertainty, grief and coping with loss, relationship struggles, resilience and persistence with treatment and much more
- Educate and counsel patients considering the use of donor sperm, donor eggs or gestational surrogacy
- Counsel potential known sperm donors, known egg donors, and gestational carriers
- Host/cohost or help coordinator group counselling sessions and webinars and staff education sessions
- Gather and share relevant resources with patients and colleagues
- Participate in content creation for our website and social media channels
- Communicate clearly and in a timely fashion to other members of the clinical care team
Qualifications
- A master's or doctoral degree from an accredited university in the field of psychology, social work, psychiatric nursing, counselling, or marriage and family therapy or equivalent
- A member in good standing of the College of Psychologists of Ontario, the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario or equivalent
- Experience, willingness and comfort with providing care to LGBT2SQ individuals and couples
- CFAS, CFAS Counsellor SIG member (preferred)
- Computer / EMR / telemedicine experience an asset
