Account Payable Specialist (7 Weeks Contract)

Overview of Position:
Reporting to the Controller, the
Accounts Payable Specialist:
is responsible for accounting duties, including full cycle accounts payable, bank book transactions, some journal entries, and related financial reporting.
A focus on continuous improvement and the ability to identify and recommend efficient solutions in relation to current processes is an integral part of this role.
The role:
- Full cycle AP management including matching, coding, and accurate costing of invoices. Manage 3way match in the ERP system, ensure invoices are posted to appropriate expense accounts, conduct weekly cheque run to process payments, and respond to vendor inquiries regarding the status of their invoices. Reconcile corporate credit card statements.
- Identify and report on key financial and operational performance indicators on a monthly basis.
- Support the Controller with monthend closing.
- Support the Controller with trade spend management, including outstanding customer deductions.
- Work with the Controller to develop and maintain accounting procedures related to AP functions; provide support on yearend financial audit and any other review or audit, such as HST, etc.
- Maintain a timely and tidy filing system of AP backups.
- Ad hoc projects and duties as directed by the Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
- Postsecondary education with a focus on Accounting and Finance
- Minimum 3 years of AP experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills, selfstarter with a high level of initiative
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, professional phone manner
- Strong understanding of business processes, experienced ERP system user
- Good computer skills, intermediate level MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook
