Role Description

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Supply Chain, the Director of Supply Chain is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain operations in support of JD Irving's Operating Divisions. This role involves strategic planning, procurement, and people leadership. The successful candidate will create excellent relationships with the Operating Divisions to ensure alignment of priorities, drive efficiency improvements and ensure the seamless flow of goods and materials to meet the division's business objectives. Additionally, the Director will build, lead and develop ahigh performing team, while monitoring departmental performance and key performance indicators.

Your responsibilities will include:

Developing and implementing supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives. Leading, mentoring, and managing a team of supply chain professionals while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Overseeing procurement activities to ensure cost-effective and timely sourcing of materials and services. Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders within the Operating Divisions, key suppliers and vendors. Negotiating contracts and agreements to secure the best terms and conditions. Contribute to inventory management strategies to minimize costs and optimize stock levels. Identifying opportunities for process improvements within the supply chain. Implementing best practices and lean methodologies to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Monitoring industry trends and advancements to keep supply chain operations current and competitive. Collaborating with other departments to align supply chain activities with overall business objectives. Providing insights and support for strategic business decisions. Ensuring clear communication and coordination across all levels of the organization.

Your Qualifications

As the ideal candidate, you have a degree in a relevant field, with several years of experience in a senior decision-making role. You demonstrate strong communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills and an ability to influence. You have a strong working knowledge of financial management practices and principles as it relates to supply chain operations.

Your qualifications include:

Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration/Commerce, Public Administration, or a related field; a Masters degree or MBA would be considered an asset. 10+ years of experience in supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Proficiency in supply chain management software and tools. Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Strategic mindset with honed analytical and problem-solving capabilities Proven track record of managing and optimizing supply chain operations in a complex, multi-industry environment. Strong organizational skills and an attention to detail
