Position Summary:


The Tavern United Server is responsible for creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all customers and for the consistent provision of friendly, efficient and responsive customer services that result in exceptional guest satisfaction.


Key Accountabilities:

***- Creates a positive and friendly guest experience through the consistent adherence of Canad - Certified Four Star standards of service;

  • Strictly adheres to all corporate policies and procedures, existing laws, terms and conditions of the Manitoba Liquor and Gaming Authority;
  • Proactively monitor guest alcohol consumption and ensure responsible drinking as per Serving it Safe standards and practices;
  • Receives customer orders for spirits, wine, beer, soft drinks, food, etc., taking every opportunity to maximise / up sell sales in a discreet and professional manner;
  • Serves food and beverages in a polite and professional manner and in accordance with accepted services standards and practices;
  • Sets tables according to accepted standards and practices, ensuring all items provided are clean, undamaged and in a good state of repair;
  • Clears and cleans tables when customers have completed their meals or drinks;
  • Ensures sideboards and serving stations are adequately stocked with replacement cutlery, linen and all other established food and beverage needs;
  • Accepts guest payment, processes credit/debit cards, cash charges and maintains accurate record of all daily / shift receipts;
  • Maintains familiarity with the composition of menu items and daily specials;
  • Attends to customer complaints/concerns politely, professionally towards achieving a satisfactory result;
  • Maintains the highest possible standards of hygiene and uniform dress;

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred;
  • A minimum of 1 restaurant/bar serving experience;
  • Possess Serving it Safe Certification;

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to understand and communicate in English, both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently recognize and resolve issues and concerns;
  • Consistently exemplify a professional attitude and demeanor;
  • Strong ability and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Stand, walk and remain on feet throughout the duration of scheduled shift;
  • Able to lift, balance and carry 20 lbs throughout the duration of scheduled shift;
  • Contend with loud noises, large group and potentially disgruntled guests;
  • Able to work a variety of shifts including, days, evenings and weekends;
  • Ability to successfully attain a clear criminal record check.
