Position Summary:


The Tavern United Barback is responsible for supporting Bartenders with the delivery of exceptional guest services by ensuring the bar and bar service areas are maintained, replenished and clean at all times.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Supports the Bartender in the delivery of exceptional guest services by maintaining a clean bar area, bar equipment, beer lockers, refrigerators and storage areas;
  • Maintains and stocks adequate bar supplies such as glasses, cups, napkins, drink supplies, condiments, etc.;
  • Prepares the bar by cutting, slicing and peeling perishable garnishes and fruits, mixing and pouring juices and storing backup supplies in prescribed containers;
  • Maintain the stock of beer, kegs, wines, liquor bottles, etc., to establish standards.;
  • Completes tasks related to stocking, replenishing, cleaning, maintenance and preparation of beverages
  • Cleans and polishes the bar, counters, shelves and equipment;
  • Complies with established inventory control measures;
  • Returns all products and equipment to proper storage location or dish room;
  • Removes and promptly disposes all trash and recyclables from bar areas;
  • Maintains a safe, clean, organized and stocked work area following Health and Safety standards;
  • Maintains a professional appearance at all times.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred;
  • Previous bar service experience;
  • Possess Serving it Safe Certification;

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to understand and communicate in English, both orally and in writing;
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction, work under pressure and work as a cohesive team member;
  • Consistently exemplify a professional attitude and demeanor.

Working Conditions:

  • Stand, walk and remain on feet throughout the duration of scheduled shift;
  • Able to lift, balance and carry 50 lbs throughout the duration of scheduled shift;
  • Contend with loud noises, large group and potentially disgruntled guests;
  • Able to work a variety of shifts including, days, evenings and weekends;
  • Ability to successfully attain a clear criminal record check.
