The programs support specialist will be responsible for identifying appropriate resources and support in consultation with the program applicant, coordinate information sharing and alignment of resource allocations with other ministries, and facilitate, monitor the intervention supports provided to the program and outcome achieve to support the inclusion of all children in licensed child care programs.

You will take a lead role in the coordination, facilitation, and support for the access of licensed childcare programs to resources to enable the inclusion of all children in the childcare program.


Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • At the Regional Level, lead the implementation of the Inclusive Child Care policy and case management of licensed childcare programs access to resources and supports in the Inclusive Child Care model.
  • Ensure childcare programs in the region have the supports necessary to include children who have extra support needs to promote and ensure the inclusion of all children.
  • Utilize evidenced based resources to determine resource needs and supports needs that licensed and approved childcare programs require promoting and ensuring inclusion of all children.
  • Research, analyze and disseminate current research and developments on evidencebased programs, strategies, and training that promote inclusion of all children in licensed and approved childcare programs.
  • Keeps updated in current research and developments that address the inclusion of children in licensed and approved child care programs
  • Research training and supports that enhances the capacity of staff in licensed and approved child care programs to include all children.
  • Develop, execute, oversee, and evaluate regional grants and resources that support the inclusion of children in licensed and approved childcare programs.
  • Prepare and execute grant or contract processes for regional community consultant groups and training supports for the licensed and approved childcare sector.
  • Support the creation of specifications, risk analysis, deliverables, outcomes, interview processes for grant or contract supports.
  • Ensure the coordination of provincial resources and supports across ministries responsible for children with extra support needs are integrated and aligned with ICC supports for licensed childcare programs
  • Lead in working groups and committees related to cross ministry programs that provide supports and resources for children with extra needs.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • University graduation in a field related to the position such as early childhood development, child studies, social work, special education
  • Minimum of four (4) years related experience working in inclusive early learning and child care with multidisciplinary services

OR

  • Masters in a related field plus a minimum of two (2) years in related experience
  • Diploma in a related field plus a minimum of six (6) years in related experience

Equivalency:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
  • Ability to assess options and implications in new ways to achieve outcomes and solutions.
  • Ability to anticipate, assess and readily adapt to changing priorities, maintain resilience in times of uncertainty and effectively work in a changing environment.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and initiative.
  • Ability to travel throughout the region.
  • Strong collaborative and relationship building skills.
