Your opportunity:
The Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics (CITA) aims to enhance collaboration within the Canadian astrophysics community and serve as a global center of excellence for theoretical astrophysics studies. CITA nurtures the next generation of scientific leaders through postdoctoral fellowships, research associate fellowships, and the guidance of undergraduate and graduate students. By focusing on unraveling the mysteries of the universe and celestial phenomena, CITA plays a pivotal role in advancing astronomy.

Reporting to the Department Manager, you will collaborate with CITA's academic research team to manage the institute's diverse research grants and contracts.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Forecasting, planning, and monitoring complex budgets
  • Analyzing financial data for decision-making
  • Ensuring compliance with grant application policies
  • Managing funding accounts for grants and contracts
  • Resolving fund administration issues
  • Preparing financial reports

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum four years of financial experience in an academic department
  • Proficiency in accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with financial analysis and interpreting policies
  • Knowledge of funding guidelines
  • Financial forecasting abilities
  • Advanced MS Office skills, especially in Excel
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Initiative and good judgement
