We are currently looking for an Outdoor Education Intern to join our team of committed professionals.

This full-time contract position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario's Chippewa location in North Bay.

Under the leadership of the Senior Manager of Camping Services, the Camping Services Coordinator will assist in developing and maintaining the Outdoor Centre programs at Rotary Camp Tillicum.

RATE OF PAY:
$19.23 per hour

HOURS: 40 per week

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite support to the daily operation of camp during the entire operating season
  • Provide high quality facilitation of all program areas of the camp
  • Maintain high level of participant care and safety at Rotary Camp Tillicum
  • Work alongside the Site Director(s) and jointly manage all aspects and operations of the Outdoor Centre seasons
  • Manage the booking process and develop and implement plans to expand program offerings
  • Assist in hiring, training, supporting and supervising the Rotary Camp Tillicum staff team throughout the entire operating season
  • Assist with organization and scheduling of staff
  • Ensure excellence in all aspects of Outdoor Centre and summer programming and curriculum through active and thorough team support and ongoing staff development
  • Assist with marketing efforts and recruiting new groups, with an overall goal of increasing weekend program participation
  • Build relationships with members and guests, and promote the YMCA as a charitable organization

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a similar camp staff position
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Selfmotivated and a strong team player
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Bilingualism in both official languages an asset
  • Current and satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
