Position Summary:
The LOFT is a voluntary 6-month short term supportive transitional housing program. The program works to stabilize individuals, meet their needs, and prepare them to transition into long term housing.
Part-time caseworkers provide support to individuals years who identify as male, are experiencing homelessness, are newly homeless, or living in an at-risk environment and are currently in a state of readiness to work with The LOFT program to achieve a stable income and long-term housing.
Staff are ensuring a safe and supportive environment while participants are residing in our interim housing. The LOFT functions off a harm reduction philosophy and values a client-centered approach.Responsibilities:
- Deliver services in a clientcentered, strengthbased approach per unit philosophy.
- Assist participants with developing life skills, goal plans, self confidence, community resources, pro social recreation, and a firm grasp on their budgeting.
- Completion of accurate written daily documentation (logbook entries, contact notes, incident reports, medication book entries).
- Ongoing monitoring of own files to ensure they are kept complete and up to date.
- Maintain accurate and uptodate data collection, data entry and completion of any program assessments and surveys as directed.
- Role model and assist clients with selfadvocacy.
- Adapt services to meet the needs of diverse populations as per unit policy.
- Coordinate recreation activities with residents.
- Deliver services in accordance with unit and Agency Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure clients are aware of and understand House rules and address any concerns.
- Ensure Maintenance and Cleanliness of Unit and Property.
- Communicate pertinent information to the supervisor and other staff as necessary.
- Obtain/maintain positive working relationships with external agencies.
- Liaise with program providers and agency funders.
- Participate in community events.
- Contribute to a positive culture by assisting and supporting colleagues as needed and encouraging and teaching others about the unit's operations.
- Attend and participate in Unit Meetings.
- Value differences amongst coworkers.
- Contributes to overall agency mission, vision, and values.
Qualifications / Skills:
- Degree or Diploma in Human Services or a related field would be considered an asset.
- 6 months to 1 year of experience working with marginalized populations preferred.
- Strong listening and relationshipbuilding skills.
- Must be selfdirected, flexible, teamorientated, and able to follow directions.
- Able to follow the agency's philosophy and core values.
- Criminal Record Check, Child Intervention Check, and Standard First Aid and CPR.
- A valid driver's license is an asset.
Conditions of Employment:
- The hours of work are
Saturday and Sunday: 7:00am 3:00pm, 3:00pm 11:00pm, and 11:00pm 7:00am
Monday to Friday:
6:00pm-11:00pm, along with the opportunity to assist with coverage for the 7:00am-3:00pm, 3:00pm-11:00pm, and 11:00pm-7:00am shifts.
- Availability during the week is preferred.
- The position requires frequent standing, walking up and down stairs, and occasional lifting.
Salary:
The starting wage is $20 per hour. Shift differential will be paid for hours worked between midnight (12:00am) and 6:00am.
