Job Opening

Mennonite Community Services of Southern Ontario (MCS) is a
not for profit charity providing services to newcomers and the
community. MCS is owned by several area Mennonite Churches
who send delegates to serve on the board of directors. MCS
seeks to link resources with needs through its programs of
Settlement, Employment, FESPA, Radio and Thrift Store.

Hours:
Approximately 24 hours per week, Seasonal - October to April

Job Summary:

The Child Care Assistant will directly care for pre-school aged children to
promote school readiness. The Child Care Assistant will participate in activities
that support mental, physical, emotional and social growth in a safe and nurturing
environment.

Genuinely enjoy interacting with pre-school aged children;
Relevant child care education and/or experience;
Physically capable of lifting, standing, sitting and bending
Excellent relational skills;
Effective time management skills;
Strong problem solving skills;
Commitment to Jesus centred faith, active church participation and non-violent

peacemaking.

Core Job Duties:

Participate in activities such as reading, circle time and play time;
Provide direct care for children including meal time and changing

diapers/toileting;
Ensure health and safety of each child;
Assist with room setup and clean up;
Interact respectfully and positively with all participants, children and staff;
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and

Qualifications:

Experience in a child care setting required;
Awareness and sensitivity of the Low German culture required;
Fluency in Low German language an asset but not required;
Early Childhood Education/Child Studies an asset but not required;
Willingness to interact with people of all ages;
Police check for the vulnerable person sector required at applicants expense.
