Your Role on our Team:

The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for contributing to best-in-class customer experience by performing general building maintenance and repairs, for all in-suite and common areas, as assigned by the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Coordinator.


In this role, you will:

  • Complete insuite turnover activities, including both light and heavy maintenance; this could include repair or replacement of appliances, painting, kitchen or bathroom fixtures, basic carpentry, etc.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all electrical, mechanical and work areas, as well as supply and storage areas.
  • Perform all facets of the job in accordance with the legislation applicable to the jurisdiction, including Health and Safety standards, WHMIS, and Human Rights.
  • Participate in the outofhours on call schedule, which requires that you are oncall to respond to emergencies during outofhours (Friday to Monday)
  • Manage preventative maintenance, service and repair needs for all locations across the Leston Holdings portfolio (the majority will pertain to heating and cooling systems, electricity, lighting, general maintenance, kitchen equipment, plumbing, soldering, sewer and toilet backup, etc.).
  • Contact the assigned vendor contractor for complicated jobs and assist them to complete the job.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in special projects as required.
  • Respond to service requests from tenants and perform minor nonticketed maintenance repairs.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective materials, and report on deficiencies.
  • All other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested by management

Qualifications, skills and other requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act and building codes.
  • Excellent communication skills with first class interpersonal and organizational skills, ensuring all parties involved are uptodate no surprises. Proficiency in spoken and written English, along with strong interpersonal skills.
  • 5 years' experience in property and building repairs, completion Power Engineering 4th Class or alternative education, renovations and equipment modifications covering structural, electrical and mechanical systems in residential operations.
  • Resourceful and selfsufficient with strong time management skills and the ability to determine priorities and manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Selfstarter with excellent work ethic who is able to deliver superior customer service.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Physical capability to perform maintenance tasks and lift moderate weights.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, enthusiasm and assertiveness
  • Ability to spend up to eight hours walking, standing, climbing stairs, lifting
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Outlook, Word and smartphone operations.
  • Ability to consistently interact with tenants and contractors professionally.

Job Types:

  • Pay:
From $27-$28/hour

  • On call standby fee: $30 per day
  • Overtime pay

Schedule:

  • Friday and Monday 1pm to 9 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday 11 am 7pm
  • After hours On Call Friday to Monday
