What is the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs team at Unity Health?
Communications and Public Affairs is a group of communications advisors, social media advisors, web programmers and media relations specialists.

We're also a fun, collaborative group of individuals who support each other in our work and are always ready to pitch in to help a colleague.

Together, we are responsible for reputation management, internal and external communications, branding, media relations, digital media, government and stakeholder relations and community engagement.

The department works across the network and also works collaboratively with the network's two foundations.

What does it mean to be a Communications Advisor in Content and Social Media Strategy at Unity Health?


As a Communications Advisor within the Communications and Public Affairs team, you play an integral role in contributing to Unity Health's local, national and international reputation as a progressive leader in the treatment of critical care, serious illnesses, community health, rehab and complex continuing care, and research and education that impact patient care.


The Communications Advisor will report to the Director of Media and External Communications and work closely with our Senior Communication Advisors supporting our quality, research and education, and clinical portfolios across our network.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate ideas, write and develop content and campaigns that demonstrate the commitments in our Strategic Plan and promote our brand.
  • Oversee the planning and daily posting of our content calendar, including social media and website content.
  • Monitor our social media channels for emerging issues, including issues management
  • Respond in a professional and timely manner to requests and incoming questions from the public
  • Collect and analyze social media data and analytics to guide tactics and content strategy

Work collaboratively within the Communications and Public Affairs team, our Foundations and with departments to advance the brand and reputation of Unity Health.


  • Special projects and other strategic communication duties as assigned, including event support, producing internal communication assets, etc.
  • Act as the Communications & Public Affairs representative oncall on a rotational basis after hours

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree/diploma in journalism, public relations, communications, or related area.
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully developing and implementing communication strategies, public awareness campaigns, corporate communications or news stories.
  • Strong, clear writer and editor; must have ability to ensure errorfree materials.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with social media analytics; knowledge of Excel an asset.
  • A creative thinker with a keen eye for what makes a good story
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including executives, board members,
  • Results oriented, selfdirected, and independent, with the ability to balance multifaceted projects and competing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure; mature judgment for assessing difficult situations.
  • Outstanding organization and time management skills.
  • High energy, flexibility and the ability to work effectively in a fastpaced environment.
