What you will do

Silent-Aire (SA) Design Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager with a desire to lead a team of Mechanical engineers and designers on complex multidisciplinary Air Handling Unit (AHU), Modular Data Center (MDC), and R&D Programs (product design & project management). The role involves you and your team working directly with SA Account Executives, Clients, other engineering disciplines, project managers, operation & procurement managers, plant staff, QAQC, and field service teams for the success of the projects. The Global Hyperscale Data Center clients will look to you for innovative product designs that incorporate seamlessly into their building infrastructure design. It is a demanding, fast-paced, and rewarding opportunity. The right candidate must bring energy, creativity, strong communication, design knowledge, time, project, and resource management, and above all a positive attitude.

How you will do it

Manage and mentor a team of Mechanical Engineers and Designers. Assign projects, set priorities, and monitor progress to meet milestones and deadlines. Provide guidance, feedback, education, and coaching for your team. Encourage ideas and feedback from your team for continuous improvement of your own management skills, your team and assisting the engineering department. Receive full or limited information from clients or consulting engineers and use that information to create innovative product solutions to meet their requirements. Take professional responsibility for your team's product and performance designs (to applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications & contracts). Help develop and drive engineering department process, policies, and standards. Forecast team resources requirements, key roles, and recruit top talent. Manage, plan, and prepare engineering deliverables – Detailed performance and unit designs, External and Internal Design Submittals, Testing and test reports, Product Cost Estimates, BOMs, Tiger Teams, Issue Investigations & solutions, etc. Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, disciplinary reviews & actions, team structure actions (reductions & additions). Present and explain technical proposals, reports, and findings to internal and external clients. Coordinate design timelines with production and ROJ dates. Actively pursue safety in design. Provide project DFMEA, Significant and Critical design characteristics to support QA/QC with their Control Plan. Technically support other departments for the overall success of the project.

What we look for

B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Master's degree in engineering is an asset. 5+ years of engineering experience. A focus on building, AHU, MDC, or mechanical product designs is an asset. 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams in project design or product development. Detailed knowledge of North American Engineering codes & standards. Experience with UL1995 and/or UL2755 is an asset. Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization, including executives and clients. Strong problem identification and resolution skills. Able to apply engineering principles to create innovative product design solutions. Excellent time management and project management skills. High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning. Ability to create, interpret, and implement company policies and procedures. Experience with cost control measures related to design.
