Mon-Fri Part time for 12 hours per week, with possibility for more hours as a supply teacher assistant.

Light of the World is a new and innovative quality childcare centre focusing on the holistic development of children and quality care.
We are seeking to hire a part time Program Support Worker (12 hours per week) that will be dedicated, and passionate educators who will be responsible to work together with the program team to help special needs children to fully participate in the childcare program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the principles of inclusion during all daily routines, activities and in all locations.
- Take part as a team member and support strategies related to daily routines including:
- Small and large group activities
- Transitions
- Toileting and hand washing routines
- Dressing routines
- Snack routines
- Documentation of child's progress and goals
- Providing added support on field trips
- Carry out program activities and child specific strategies (individually and in groups) collaboratively with program staff
- Be flexible, responsive, and supportive to offer support in a crisis/problematic situation
- Take part in ongoing professional learning and development
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Recommended Requirements
- Previous experience working or volunteering with children with differing abilities or diagnosis; and/or
- Previous experience working or volunteering with individuals or children with special needs; and/or
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth, Developmental Support, Educational Assistant or Recreation and Leisure
- Good organizational skills and communication (Oral and written).
- Speaking languages of the served community as well as bilingual francophone speaking applicants is a great asset.
- Able to assist with our daily planned program and activities.
- Great communication skills and problemsolving, especially interacting positively with parents, coworkers, and the children.
Mandatory Requirements
- A current police record check, including vulnerable sector screening as outlined in section 59 of Ontario Regulation 137/15 made under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 201
- Standard First Aid including infant/child CPR certificate as outlined in section 55 of Ontario Regulation 137/15 made under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 201
- Immunization record
- This position requires long hours of standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, and lifting.
