Optical Assembly Automation Engineer/technologist

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Photonic Components Assembly Processes group, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing, configuring, and optimizing industrial assembly processes and systems from inception through to start-up and certification, with a focus on automation and tooling. This role will aim to enhance production quality and efficiency.

Roles, Responsibilities and contribution

  • Support design teams to develop novel assembly systems and assembly processes to enable manufacturing of next generation photonics component products.
  • Take ownership of the optical assembly processes and equipment during the whole product development cycle.
  • Develop and write equipment specifications, performance requirements and proposal for integrating machinery and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, suppliers, and contractors to integrate automation solutions specific to the optical industry.
  • Plan and execute experimental tests in clean room to gain hands-on understanding of optical assembly processes and assess adequacy/improvement needs of engineering equipment.
  • Oversee installation, site acceptance test (SAT) and transfer to operation of equipment at contract manufacturer site.
  • Develop, improve and optimize current processes (hands-on lab work expected);

Required Qualifications / Profile

  • College or Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering field.
  • + 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Strong hands-on problem-solving ability and attention to details.

Assets

  • Experience programing manufacturing equipment.
  • knowledge of CAD software.
  • Experience managing projects with tight timelines.

Technologue / Ingénieur automatisation, assemblage Photonique

Description de l'emploi

Relevant du Manager senior de l'équipe des Procédés d'assemblage de composants photoniques, le candidat retenu sera responsable du développement, de la configuration et de l'optimisation des procédés et des systèmes d'assemblage industriel depuis la création jusqu'au démarrage et à la certification, en mettant l'accent sur l'automatisation et l'outillage. Ce rôle visera à améliorer la qualité et l'efficacité de la production.

Rôles et Responsabilités

  • Aider les équipes de conception à développer de nouveaux systèmes d'assemblage pour permettre la fabrication de composants photoniques de nouvelle génération.
  • S'approprier les processus et équipements d'assemblage optique pendant tout le cycle de développement du produit.
  • Développer et rédiger des spécifications d'équipement, des exigences de performance et des propositions d'intégration de machines et d'équipements.
  • Collaborer avec d'autres ingénieurs, fournisseurs et sous-traitants pour intégrer des solutions d'automatisation spécifiques à l'industrie optique.
  • Planifier et exécuter des tests expérimentaux en salle blanche pour acquérir une compréhension pratique des processus d'assemblage optique et évaluer l'adéquation/l'amélioration des besoins de l'équipement d'ingénierie.
  • Superviser l'installation, les tests d'acceptation sur site (SAT) et le transfert vers le partenaire manufacturier de l'équipement sur le site du fabricant sous contrat.
  • Développer, améliorer et optimiser les processus actuels (travail pratique en laboratoire attendu);

Profil et Qualifications Requises

  • DEC ou Baccalauréat dans un domaine d'ingénierie pertinent.
  • + 2 ans d'expérience dans un domaine connexe.
  • Forte capacité pratique de résolution de problèmes et souci du détail.

Essentiel

  • De l'expérience en programmation d'équipement automatisé
  • Des connaissances dans un logiciel de CAO
  • De l'expérience de l'exécution de projet aux échéanciers serrés.
