This includes routine cleaning as well as specialized tasks in sensitive areas such as operating rooms and pharmacy while adhering to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) standards. The ESI contributes to creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, residents, visitors, and staff, while upholding confidentiality and showing empathy in all interactions. Additionally, the ESI supports training new staff members and handles other assigned duties independently in a dynamic work environment. The town of Bow Island, located 107 kilometers from the Saskatchewan border and 136 kilometers from the United States border, offers various outdoor recreational opportunities near parks, lakes, rivers, and streams for activities like fishing, camping, and boating.

Description:

As an Environmental Services Worker I, you will carry out a range of cleaning and disinfection tasks in healthcare settings, both clinical and non-clinical. Your responsibilities will involve activities such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, restocking supplies, changing linens, and identifying potential hazards to report to your supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of Grade 10 or equivalent education. Proficiency in using computers, including Microsoft Office. Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift. Physical strength to lift up to 22 lbs.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Proficient in English language skills. Willingness to engage in physical tasks that require standing, walking, bending, lifting, and wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods, such as face masks, eye protection, gloves, and gowns.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent education. Availability to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays. Basic computer proficiency. Previous experience in cleaning. Familiarity with cleaning procedures in specialized areas like emergency departments, operating rooms, intensive care units, neonatal intensive care units, etc. Possession of a WHMIS certificate.
