Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is currently recruiting for a

Commercial Associate position in our Vancouver office. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast paced environment, this is the opportunity for you.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preaward activities, including supporting the tender governance process, reviewing commercial proposals before submission for internal approval, preparing commercial qualifications and pricing notes, and coordinating commercial and contractual qualifications.
  • Liaising with the business' operational staff, provide direction and guidance and compliance with Wood policies "acting" as the Commercial Coordinator/Associate to the Minerals & Metals offices in North America.
  • Ensure timely submission of contracting policy approval requests in collaboration with the Contracts function for main contract administration.
  • Reviewing various types of contractual agreements (Non Disclosure Agreements, JV, exclusivity, interim awards, third party, etc.) and participating in contractual negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies and profit improvement plans in alignment with client contracts and Wood's policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate setup of contracts in the appropriate business system.
  • Liaising with Wood specialist departments including finance, human resources, insurance, tax and legal.
  • Providing contract administration including preparation of work orders, variations and contract amendments.
  • Administer the development and maintenance of Commercial Handovers and Plans.
  • Coordinate contract reviews and develop qualifications/redlines in collaboration with the Contracts function.
  • Gather and analyze information/data to support and assist with disputes, either for Wood's assertive claims and/or defense against claims.
  • Prepare essential contract and internal project reporting requirements. Attending and supporting the monthly project review meetings process (including cost and value reporting, forecasting and risk assessment).
  • Prepare main contract and subcontract (if applicable) closeout requirements, including cost and revenue reconciliation and, when applicable, KPI closeout, change order management, collection of insurance certificates, purchase order requisitions and other commercial documentation.
  • Providing support to project teams, throughout the lifecycle of projects ensuring early recognition of potential changes and diligent change order control both upwards and downwards in the supply chain.
  • Collaborating with other commercial personnel and operating units across the company
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to meet job requirements.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • A university or college degree or above in relevant legal, financial discipline, Quantity Surveying, or Business Studies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial, economic and business issues relating to the mining, construction or related industry. Related experience in an engineering consulting, construction business is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in English
  • 0 3 years experience
  • Advance interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Office user
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in order to meet strict deadlines.
