Wastewater Treatment Co-op Student 

 
Are you interested in applying your talents and knowledge and gaining valuable experience? The City of Abbotsford has a 3-4-month co-op opportunity starting May 2024, with an hourly wage of $19.21 – $24.47 dependent on year of study. The Wastewater Treatment co-op supports the operation and maintenance of the JAMES Pollution Control Centre and has the potential to take on additional responsibilities depending on your interests and skillset. If you are goal-oriented, accountable, and have a strong desire to contribute, we want to hear from you.
 
This position will work from the JAMES Plant located at 5959 Gladwin Road.
 
What you will do:
 Under supervision:

Assists in the operation of all wastewater treatment plant functions.Assists in the maintenance and repair of equipment, such as pumps, motors, valves, instruments, chlorination systems etc.Assists in the lubrication and cleaning of machinery and equipment; performs ‘housekeeping’ and general maintenance work through the JAMES plant.Assists in record keeping.Assists in a variety of wastewater and biosolids sampling operations.Operates related equipment including trucks, small tractors, lawn mowers, etc.Performs other related duties as assigned.

 
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

Must have a minimum of Grade 12 education or equivalent.Must be currently attending a secondary or post-secondary educational program full or part-time; or have attended full or part-time in the last academic year and plan to return in the next ensuing semester.Must be enrolled in a recognized Water and Wastewater Technology program.Must be in possession of a valid BC Driver’s License.Must have the ability to follow all work safe B.C. regulations and have the ability to complete work in a safe manner.
