Adolescent Day Treatment Program Grades 8-12

Summary
The Adolescent Day Treatment Program is a multi-agency, multi-district program supporting the social emotional, mental and educational well-being of a diverse group of learners. The program provides services to youth who are experiencing significant psychiatric difficulties or other severe mental health issues which are significantly impacting their education. Students are screened into the program through a multi-disciplinary committee. The teacher works to support the academic programming of the students while they are in the program, which is located at The Foundry. Focus of the student’s academic studies are primarily English and Humanities.
OPEN NTIL FILLED - The applicant list is monitored daily and will be closed immediately following the appointment of a successful applicant, who will start March 27, 2023 until June 30, 2023.
Education & Experience
Master’s degree in Counselling and/or Special Education
Major/minor in English, Humanities or related Social Science
Teaching experience at the Middle and Secondary level.
Experience in Case Management and collaboratively developing Individual Education Plans (IEP)
Experience working with Middle or Secondary level students with neurodiversity.
Eligible for B.C. Certification
Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum report
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
A strong understanding of diverse needs as laid out within the District and Ministry documents.
A strong understanding of mental health issues common to adolescents
An expertise in offerings of diverse individual programs for students at varying academic levels
Knowledge and experience in administering and interpreting Level B testing.
Understanding of the Ministry of Education Designation process for Categories R and H
Demonstrated competence in direct instruction of children with learning and developmental disabilities.
A demonstrated ability and willingness to work as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency team.
Ability to work with School Based teams and Integrated Care Teams in multi districts

**Collaboration & Teamwork**: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives
**Caring & Inclusiveness**: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students
**Flexibility & Adaptability**: Demonstrate flexibility in our ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
