The Specialist, DPM plays an active role in supporting the disease site leadership model and advancing disease site specific work across OH(CCO). The Specialist will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a consistent, standardized approach in identifying, prioritizing, and implementing disease-specific and cross disease site initiatives as well as managing work plans and timelines for deliverables. The Specialist works as a member of the DPM team under the direction of the Team Lead, DPM to support the program wide planning, implementation and alignment of cross program activities, process improvement, stakeholder engagement, evaluation and knowledge transfer and exchange (KTE) activities.

Support the Ontario Cancer Leads and their Cancer Advisory Committees in identifying approaches to address issues identified across the cancer continuum.

Lead pathway map working groups, supporting the Ontario Cancer Leads associated with the pathways and working with the clinical expert working groups to solicit multidisciplinary input.

Coordinate and lead project/program activities, including working with sponsors, clinical expert working groups, and project teams to plan, operationalize and monitor tasks, and milestones.

Interact with relevant project/program stakeholders, including clinical experts, team members, and committee members to: plan and organize meetings and events; collect, create and distribute relevant materials; and, develop and update project-related reports and documents.

Evolve and champion the disease site leadership model, and providing support to embed this into current practice.

Facilitate knowledge transfer activities.

Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses to support project and/or program goals.

Conduct evidence searches and prepare summary reports and/or presentations of findings.

Build strong relationships with OH(CCO)'s Program in Evidence Based Care (PEBC) who create clinical and organizational guidance documents that inform our work. Advise and support the creation of these guidance documents (e.g. endorsements or position statements), as required.

Perform cross-functional tasks and/or other duties within the Division of Clinical Programs and Quality Initiatives, as required.

Education and Experience

Completion of a Master's (strongly preferred) or Bachelor's degree in health sciences, sciences, public policy or recognized equivalent or an equivalent combination of additional education and experience is required.

Minimum two years of professional experience in healthcare (preferred) or relevant scientific industries.

An understanding of Ontario's healthcare system with particular emphasis in cancer care and clinician engagement.

Experience leading or participating in successful health care projects and/or programs with a change management scope is an asset.

Experience managing clinical stakeholder groups and developing and implementing stakeholder engagement strategies is an asset.

Experience with scientific literature review and process mapping.

Experience developing knowledge transfer strategies is an asset

Experience in leading process improvement initiatives is an asset

Knowledge and Skills

Strong scientific background; ability to understand the physiology of cancer and the clinical steps involved in screening, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. Ability to conceptualize the cancer continuum and translate information from a variety of sources into a logical, visual pathway.

Superior people skills, including the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships, consult, influence, and build consensus with stakeholders;

Commitment to excellence, continuous learning and high attention to detail including planning, goal setting, reporting, and analysis;

Highly motivated with the ability to work independently. Detail-oriented and process-driven with a demonstrated ability to consistently and effectively produce high quality work.

Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to plan and organize work within set timelines, manage multiple projects/tasks in parallel, prioritize and effectively anticipate and respond to issues as they arise.

Ability to summarize and understand the implications and recommendations of scientific papers and clinical guidelines; ability to translate scientific information into a convincing written argument or business case.

Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to think critically and strategically.

Proven ability to work in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment, as well as independently and interact comfortably with all levels of organization and personnel.

Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively present information to relevant stakeholders at various levels.

Demonstrated collaboration and facilitation skills.

An in-depth understanding of Ontario's health care environment, specifically cancer, is a definite asset

Employment Type: Full Time Temporary (18 month contract)

Salary Band: 4
