POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Unit Clerk provides receptionist, clerical and patient centered duties, demonstrating the values, strategic directions and core success factors which support our commitment to the patient, their family and community partners to provide quality health care. The Unit Clerk demonstrates excellent communication skills and maintains confidentiality of patient and staff information.

HOURS:

Must be able to work rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays. The successful candidate must be willing to work 4 hour, 7.5 hour and 11.25 hour shifts when required.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Medical Office Administration/Health Care Office Administration certificate required
At least one (1) year experience within the last three (3) years of unit clerk experience preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of alpha and terminal digit filing systems
General clerical experience including reception, filing, and basic computer literacy
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills, including excellent telephone etiquette
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with minimal supervision utilizing effective organizational and problem-solving skills;
Ability to write legibly
Ability to adapt and work within a constantly changing environment.
Demonstrated computer knowledge and skills (Electronic Patient Record, Cerner, Powerchart, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Internet/Intranet Usage).
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis as per the STEGH Attendance at Work Policy
Demonstrates a fit with STEGH values

Successful candidates must provide evidence of having received a full primary series of a COVID-19 vaccine or combination of vaccines authorized by Health Canada and having received the final dose 14 days before entering STEGH.
