Description:

The Staff Instrument & Controls (I&C) Engineer will work on design teams to create world class designs for grassroots and revamp/brown field refining and chemical projects. The Staff I&C Engineer will work with the design team throughout the Engineering/design, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) process, adapting I&C plans according to assigned budget, schedule, engineering/design standards, and client requirements. The Staff I&C Engineer will assist in providing deliverables for Front End Planning (FEP) and Detailed Design phases and support construction phase.

Prepare instrumentation engineering/design deliverables, including Instrument Index, Instrument Data Sheets, Instrument Installation Details, Instrument Location Plans, Wiring Diagrams, and Loop Diagrams.

Prepare control systems (DCS and/or PLC) and Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) Data Sheets.

Prepare controls design deliverables, including I/O list, Process Control Narratives, Graphic Sketches, Cause & Effect Diagrams, Alarm Rationalization, and manage third party control system suppliers to comply with the control system design requirements, including participating in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).

Prepare I&C purchase specifications, review bids, make technical recommendations and manage the overall purchase, review of I&C packages, and review of vendor documentation.

Develop P&ID's for various projects.

Perform process measurements such as temperature, pressure, flow, level, analyzers, and control valves. Utilize knowledge of various technologies for selecting appropriate I&C application.

Perform preliminary sizing calculations for instruments such as orifice plates, controls valves, relief valves, and thermowells.

Develop level sketches in conjunction with multiple departments.

Responsible for applying knowledge of commonly used I&C engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the engineering services industry.

Provide leadership and guidance for less experienced engineers.
Responsible for compliance with company and project site safety policies.
All other duties as assigned.

This is an office working environment and field position. The office working environment is a typical setting.

The field environment may include working in various climates throughout the year. Must be able to work in a safe manner in extreme climates, confined spaces, exposure to heights, and loud noises with the proper personal protection equipment.

Travel to the jobsite may require traversing potentially ungraded, ground, steps, ladders, etc. This position is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, or reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.

Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must utilize vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Ability to understand complex problems and collaborate and explore alternative resolutions.

Ability to remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information. Ability to think analytically.

Requirements:

· Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.

Master of Science degree in above Engineering programs or related may be substituted for 1 year experience.

3 years of applicable engineering experience, consulting preferred.
Successful completion (i.e.passing) FE or EIT preferred.

Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.

Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.

Proficient in Smart Plant instrumentation (SPI) in the development of instrument datasheets

Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
