Position Objective(s):
- The Deputy Manager will assist the Senior Maintenance Manager in planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the daily operation and maintenance of the GO Transit/UP Express fleet of vehicles.
JOB DUTIES:
- Responsible for assisting with the performance and supervision of the shop team
- Provide guidance and coaching to Supervisors and Managers
- Schedule and attend regular meetings with managers, supervisors, employees, and the customer.
- Ensure trends in performance are tracked for both safety and production using established KPI for the site.
- Advise staff on technical and operational matters;
- Coordinate or assist with investigations for customer issues regarding equipment maintenance;
- Coordinate or assist with completion of special projects as required;
- Provide investigation reports and resolution to the SR management team;
- Assist with preparation and expenditures of the department's annual budget;
- Interpret and provide guidance to staff regarding collective agreement.
RELATED ACTIVITIES:
- Participates in the performance evaluation and succession planning of personnel;
- Monitors departmental and company KPIs and ensures that targets are met or exceeded.
Skill factors - Education/ Experience
- 5 years+ of management responsibility in a manufacturing or maintenance environment;
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance, work order, lean methodology and scheduling techniques;
- Ability to read and interpret a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of disciplines and levels, both internal and external staff;
- Must possess excellent verbal and written skills;
- Knowledge of working procedures and techniques utilized in the trade area;
- Strong interpersonal skills for the training and coaching activities;
- Working knowledge of MS office package
