Our team combines expertise in ocean science, metallurgy and geochemistry to safely and effectively scale up ocean-based CO2 management solutions. Working collaboratively with all of our stakeholders, we develop a cost effective and sustainable set of tools aimed at protecting and restoring our oceans and climate, ultimately doing carbon dioxide removal and storage at gigatonne scale.

Planetary is hiring a VP Sales that will take responsibility for Planetary's revenue engine including credit sales and market infrastructure in voluntary and compliance markets. The ideal candidate for this role has experience with closing complex sales deals that can span long cycles - you have a bias for action and proven ability to close and deliver on agreements.


Core Responsibilities


  • Secure multi-year offtake agreements for at least 25% of the credits to be generated from our scaled projects
  • Set and review a pricing strategy for carbon credits in collaboration with the other members of Planetary's senior leadership team
  • Initiate, develop and grow relationships with credit buyers
  • Produce sales forecasts and reports as needed to support decision making, offering transparency with investors and stakeholders as needed
  • Speak with the voice of the customer within the Planetary team, ensuring strong alignment between internal objectives and commercial success
  • As needed - research the market and competitors - supporting the development of and reinforcing uniqueness of Planetary's product and services in the market
  • As needed - collaborate with advocacy organizations to progress voluntary and compliance market inclusion for Planetary's credits


About You


  • You have 10 or more years of demonstrated success in a sales role, at least 2 of which are within climate or carbon crediting fields
  • You have a strong understanding of carbon credit markets and the policy landscape around permanent carbon removal
  • You are an excellent technology communicator, with the ability to adapt content and style to the intended audience
  • You keep a close eye on environmental policy and are excited to find ways to influence it
  • You encourage a fast but sustainable pace, operating well with complexity, ambiguity and uncertainty
  • You are a self-directed learner, early adopter, and excited about influencing the state of the art when it comes to commercialization of ocean-based CDR and OAE in order to tackle climate change.
  • You collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders
  • You are skilled at managing long and complex sales cycles
