Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Quality Engineer to join our team. This role is integral to infusing quality thinking and solving daily shop floor problems alongside our operators. The ideal candidate will lead improvement initiatives, support operator training, and become a technical process expert.

Required Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy or Engineering-related degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Analysis, APQP and Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
  • ASQ-CMQ/OE, CQE, and/or Master Blackbelt (Preferred)
  • Certified IATF16949 and/or ISO9001 Lead Auditor (Preferred)
  • Core Tool knowledge (PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, MSA, Control plans, DFM)
  • Proven excellence in RCCA using 8D
  • Strong knowledge of statistical quality tools (sampling plans, capability analysis, SPC, DoE, etc.)
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated project management experience and success in leading change.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem solving, documentation and organizational skills.
  • Must be a team player and have the ability to be a self-directed team player.
  • Experience with Power BI and other data collection and presentation tools
  •  Maintenance experience in hydraulics, PLC and electrical system preferred.
  • Experience with SAP PM or other CMMS

 

Job Responsibilities:
  • Daily Shop Floor Problem Solving: Works almost exclusively on the shop floor daily alongside operators infusing quality thinking and local problem solving for cultural transition.
  • Identifies Internal Issues: Daily Gemba walks to scour the site for visible issues in the product and process. Coordinates immediate resolution.
  • Leads Improvement Teams: Leads formal Optimization Team / kaizen initiatives related to product quality alongside Genesis and Op Ex. Listens to operator feedback on issues that need resolved. Gets it done through site resources.
  • Trains / Coaches Shop Floor Personnel: Supports learning organization initiative through daily teaching / coaching on the shop floor. Imparts technical knowledge of the process and reactionary logic based on process deviation observation.
  • Becomes Technical Process Expert: Becomes a subject matter expert in area of coverage (extrusion, fabrication, etc.).
  • Supports Customer Claim Resolution: Supports internal investigation of customer claims and complaints.
  •  Acts as a Liaison with the customer for Automotive Quality Issues.
  • Works closely with the Product Development Team on APQP activities with a proactive “zero defects” approach.
  • Manages / Mitigates Process Variation: Develops SPC tools and works to manage the output response to special cause variation. Mitigates deviations in R2R.
