The Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development is seeking an individual to join the Forest Operations and Development Branch as a Timber Products Analyst, in Fredericton.
As a member of the Timber Products team and reporting to the section Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing analytical support to the Timber Products section related to statistical analysis, commodity markets, stumpage markets, Crown scale, and softwood lumber trade. The incumbent is the department lead and process owner for the provincial wood flow model, including completing scenario analysis, examining timber allocation opportunities, and exploring and understanding underlying factors and costs impacting wood flow. This position is also responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining section dashboards for key process indicators; provide technical support for allocation of Crown timber; annual Crown timber fair market value and royalty rate setting; tracing of monthly commodity prices to support monthly royalty rate adjustments; and annual royalty revenue projections and quarterly reporting. Other related duties may be assigned as required.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor of Science in Forestry or Forest Engineering; a minimum of five (5) years of experience in forest resource management, including a minimum of two (2) years of experience managing and analyzing large data sets and visualization. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Forester in New Brunswick is required.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

ASSET QUALIFICATION(S): Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate experience with one or more of the following: ESRI ArcGIS; Remsoft forest modelling software, Woodstock, Allocation Optimizer; PowerBI; RISI Cornerstone Analytics; design, management and analysis of databases. Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate must be prepared to: travel within the province, as required; and obtain and maintain registration as a professional Forester in New Brunswick.
SALARY: $63,700 to $88,972 per annum
