Randstad Canada is hiring for a Destruction Technician on St-Patrick Street, Montreal

This is an ongoing role starting at $22hr with one of our largest clients focused in document storage and management.

The shift is Mondays - Fridays, 8:00- 6:00 pm

This position requires a reliability clearance, and to be eligible a 5 year residency in Canada is a must.
Candidates will have to pay for the fingerprinting process to be completed. However, Iron Mountain will reimburse you for the fingerprints, after 30 days of working with them.

Although you may be offered the position right away, you will not be able to start in the role until the reliability clearance has cleared. This could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

Responsibilities
Secure Shredding (95% of time spent) â Empty collected material from containers (cutting bags, dumping gaylords, etc.).

Manual dumping of boxes from pallets. Sorting material by grade, separating and discarding identified contaminants. As authorized, ability to perform repairs to equipment as needed to ensure operationally safe when in production.

When authorized, perform daily, weekly and monthly equipment maintenance tasks as directed by the Plant Manager or Supervisor Load and unload vehicles as required and verify accuracy of deliveries and pickups. Maintain chain of custody and strict control over incoming and outgoing customer material. Ability to identify and recommend changes to Plant Manager and/or Destruction Supervisor as needed.

Immediate notification to Plant Manager or Destruction Supervisor when equipment is not operational or there are safety and security concerns. In accordance with 5S Workplace Program, communicate obstacles in workplace layout to Plant Manager or Destruction Supervisor.

Assist with training of new staff as needed. Learn and understand compliance with all OSHA requirements, as well as safety and security procedures â including wearing required uniform and PPEâs

Physical Requirements:
Manufacturing type environment at times requiring dust masks and/or earplugs; ability to pick up heavy material (70lbs to 100lbs) and/or push as much as 300lbs wheeled containers; ability to operate PIT (and other equipment) as licensed.
Work gloves required when handling and sorting materials for destruction. Safety glasses required. Protective footwear is required and shall meet ASTM F2413-11 âStandard Specification for Performance Requirements for Protective (Safety) Toe Cap Footwearâ and have a slip-resistant rating designated as âBetter or Bestâ. Temperatures on production floor can sometimes be equivalent to external temperatures.

Capable of lifting 50 pounds throughout shift
Good attention to detail
Reliable, willing to get the job done attitude
Willing to obtain Reliability Status government clearance
