From advising small businesses to attracting investment, we connect our clients with the right people and resources to turn good ideas into reality. We provide the economic analysis and insight that inform smart decision-making and assist clients as they access government financial supports. We are here to help businesses, industries and communities to see the big picture, envision the future of the Yukon economy, and find a path forward.

The Regional Economic Development Branch facilitates regional economic activities and offers funding and advisory services to stimulate and support regional economic development projects, capacity development, and initiatives which provide long-term sustainable economic and social benefits for Yukon communities.

The Community Development Advisor (CDA) is responsible for processing, analyzing, assessing, and making project recommendations ensuring that projects are effectively implemented, managed, monitored, and completed. The CDA provides advice and assistance that reinforces networks and social infrastructure, increases public engagement, fosters empowerment and self-sufficiency, and builds community and organizational capacity.

Essential Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in social sciences, business administration, community economic development or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with community development approaches to project development and management, and working with a broad range of clients, preferably in a northern or rural context.
  • Significant experience in analyzing, evaluating, and making recommendations on client applications against program criteria and managing funding agreements with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience performing financial information analysis and report preparation.
  • Experience in fund administration in a government setting.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability

Candidates should have and may be assessed on:

  • Ability to build collaborative working relationships and provide quality customer service Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including diplomacy.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, situations and demands by establishing critical timelines and prioritizing actions.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience using a variety of computer software including word processing, SharePoint, spreadsheets, is needed.

Additional Information

Job Requirements: The position is required to make regular trips to Yukon rural communities.
