About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Relief 3rd Class Power Engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a high-pressure heating plant at the Aberdeen Hospital on a rotating shift schedule. The Relief 3rd Class Power Engineer performs checks on three [3] high pressure boilers to provide steam, hot water heating and domestic hot water. The Relief 3rd Class Power Engineer also maintain and repairs associated equipment, monitors heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems and addresses issues as they arise. This position is also accountable for responding to calls from various departments concerning maintenance and operation of hospital equipment in an efficient and professional manner. This position will cover maintenance duties across the facility when not in the boiler plant.

About You
  • 3rd class Interprovincial Power Engineers Certification or a 3rd Class Nova Scotia Power Engineers Grade XII or equivalent is required, plus three years of related experience in a high pressure steam plant preferred.
  • Certification and a 2nd class refrigeration certification required.
  • Experience working in a computerized plant environment required.
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
