PAL Aerospace is currently seeking qualified applications for Avionics Engineer. We are recruiting for multiple positions, and open to all experience levels.With flexibility in mind, we welcome candidates throughout Ontario, and the Atlantic Provinces to apply. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work on individual projects or as part of a group in all areas of aircraft modification and repair projects for wide range of aircraft from normal through transport category fixed and rotary wing.
  • Support in interfacing directly with customers, equipment suppliers, TCCA/FAA/EASA and subcontractors in support of project requirements
  • Perform on-site installation surveys as required
  • Effectively communicate with on-site installation team during modification
  • Manage Engineering design changes during installation
  • Participate in and witness Flight/Ground/EMI testing
  • Preparation of engineering and airworthiness documentation from modification conceptualization to final approval:
    • Engineering analysis and reports, primarily in areas of avionics
    • Airworthiness approval documentation
    • Airworthiness compliance reports
    • Design models and engineering drawings for various aircraft modifications
    • Technical publications such as maintenance manual supplements, Instructions for continued airworthiness, flight manual supplements, etc.
    • Ground and flight test plans, analysis, and reports
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

We welcome applicants who have some of the following skills & qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (preferably with a focus in Aerospace), a minimum of 3 years work experience in a technical role supporting aircraft development and or modifications related to avionics system, or any combination of education and relevant work experience applicable to the industry - (taking three bullets and turning them into one - would that work?)
  • Knowledge and experience in civil avionics and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of airworthiness regulations and standards from Transport Canada, FAA or EASA
  • Experience in preparation of engineering reports
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Here are some items we consider to be great assets:

  • Experience with aircraft maintenance procedures such as AMM, WDM, IPC, scheduled maintenance, test procedures, test equipment, safety practices, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with Functional Hazard Assessments, Systems Safety, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
  • Knowledge and experience with environmental qualifications such as DO-160
  • Proficient with use of electrical drafting in AutoCAD
  • Experience in Design Approval Organization (DAO) activities

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Office or Executive Administration is considered an asset
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in an office administrative role
  • Knowledge of aviation industry would be considered an asset
  • Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills 
  • Previous experience preparing reports, memos, meeting minutes, etc. is required
  • Experience working in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment 
  • Must be highly skilled in Microsoft Office suite of products and committed to continuous skills improvement
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must be detail-orientated with experience editing large, complex documents

Responsibilities
  • Compile reports, presentations, summaries, etc., using Microsoft Office Suite of Products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Maintain online and internal library for operational and regulatory documents
  • Update and amend documents, presentations, and spreadsheets while adhering to specific predetermined formatting
  • Develop, create, amend, and distribute operational directives
  • Amend operational manuals as per company directives and Canadian Aviation Regulations
  • Work cohesively in a team environment and independently to ensure that time sensitive materials are complete and accurate
  • Transcribe operational meeting minutes and distribute to various divisions
  • Create and distribute memos and Operational Directives 
  • Order office supplies as required
  • Administrative duties such as filing, scanning, photocopying, etc. 
  • Other duties as required
