GENERAL STATEMENT
The Senior Data Management Analyst performs all of the duties of the Data Management Analyst and assumes a lead role to investigate, analyze and resolve system/process issues which have a broad impact on the department, the Division and the College. Coordinates departmental projects, making decisions and recommendations to ensure achievement of goals. Requires frequent contact with students, staff and faculty and an ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Must have the ability to work under pressure and meet demanding deadlines. May require working outside of normal office hours and travel between campuses.

TYPICAL DUTIES
• Maintains inventory of Ministry data coding requirements. Works with Institutional Research Department to ensure that the data quality integrity meets Data Warehouse and reporting requirements;
• Takes lead role in managing data cleanup projects, to meet audit and Institutional Research requirements and Ministry standards;
• Prepares data required for production of T2202A reports. Works with Canada Revenue Agency to achieve accurate interpretation of tax guidelines as they relate to student records and with Canada Post to ensure the timely and accurate production of output;
• Provides "central clearing house" for management and clean-up of duplicate records. Analyzes suspected duplicate records and makes decisions on merging/purging. Works with HR and Finance to coordinate the process. Requires an understanding of the impact of altering student/vendor/employee records and the impact on all modules of Colleague (Student, HR and Finance), within the context of an integrated system where responsibility for data integrity is shared with other departments;
• Implements curriculum approvals in the system, understanding the inter-related complexities of multiple curriculum changes over time, and their impact on students' academic records, pre-requisite definitions, admissions/registration requirements and graduation requirements. Understands the impact of the timing of the implementation of changes on program requirements and makes decisions accordingly;
• Analyzes data, systems and processes to make decisions to remedy errors/anomalies or recommend system or process changes that will support objectives and requirements;
• Works closely with Systems Development to investigate and analyze system problems and recommend solutions;
• Key contact in Student Services for specific functions which cross boundaries between Student, HR and Finance modules of the integrated records system (e.g. fee transfers, management of duplicate records, address management);
• Oversees the department-wide implementation of the testing protocol for the student records system and web registration system;
• Oversees the manual grade entry and verification process;
• Produces fee schedule on an annual basis to ensure consistency of application of fee policy within Student Services;
• Assumes responsibilities of "Acting Supervisor", as assigned during planned absences of the Supervisor. Also may act in this capacity informally, during short-term or unscheduled absences of the Supervisor (i.e. first point of contact within the Department for issues requiring a higher level of decision-making authority);
• Performs other related duties similar in scope and complexity. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS
Grade 12 graduation plus two years of post-secondary education and five years of related experience, three of which are directly related to data management in a post-secondary institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have a high level of computer skills, including keyboarding, word processing, web based and email applications, with a proven level of proficiency working in multiple environments (Windows, Unix, VAX/VMS), and with associated software and peripherals. Must have an excellent working knowledge of student records systems and integrated components of HR and Finance, as they relate to student records. Extensive and detailed knowledge required of Camosun's admissions/registration policies and procedures, as well as detailed knowledge of the evolution of Camosun courses and programs.

Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to multitask; ability to be self-directed, high-quality planning and organizational skills, the ability to make customer service-oriented decisions. Must have the capacity for concentration and ability to analyze and problem solve. Must be able to work well in a high-volume, ever-changing, client-centred environment.
