This is a term, anticipatory permanent position, working 75 hours bi-weekly to March 28, 2025.

The Compliance Monitoring and Inspections branch is the enforcement unit of the Department, providing compliance monitoring, inspection, and enforcement services for natural resource development activities in the territory.

This position fulfills an important support function to natural resource officers and field staff at regional and district offices around the territory. The position is an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team providing standards and training to the branch.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, natural resource management, or related field
  • Experience in supporting the delivery of a training program, including coordinating venues, materials, instructors and ensuring up to date certifications of employees
  • Experience in facilitating the procurement, maintenance, and tracking inventory of equipment

The following would be considered an asset:

  • Experience in budgeting and financial controls in a government environment would be an asset
  • Experience ensuring compliance with employer Occupational health & Safety Regulations and guidelines would be an asset.

Candidates with an equivalent combination of post-secondary coursework along with experience in the above will be equally considered.

Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:

  • Understanding of purchasing and procurement processes
  • Interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills
  • Ability to build positive and collaborative working relationships
  • Aptitude in providing advice on approaches and methods to address issues
  • Capacity to prioritize effectively, set and meet deadlines and quickly adapt to change
  • Ability to assess challenges, exercise effective problem solving and decision making skills and initiate solutions
  • Ability to work in a team environment but also take the initiative to work independently
  • Strong computer literacy including proficiency in MS Excel

Conditions of Employment

  • Valid Yukon Driver's License
  • Valid Firearms Possession and Acquisition License or ability to obtain within 6 months.
