Primary Purpose: The Mistik Askiwin Dendrochronology Laboratory (MAD Lab) seeks applications for a two-year post-doctoral fellowship (PDF) on a funded Environment and Climate Change Canada Nature-based Climate Solutions grant. The program is currently researching carbon sequestration in native trees in the Prairies from a growth, climatological, and economic standpoint.

Nature of Work:
Combination of desk and fieldwork

Accountabilities:
The PDF will be responsible for linking a dynamic team of landscape scientists, economists, soil scientists, GIS, remote sensers, and computer programmers to help develop an online decision support system to calculate landscape valuations across the southern Prairies. Previous experience working with one or more of these diverse groups will be seen as definitive assets.

Education:
A PhD is required.

Licenses:
A valid class 5 driver’s license is a necessity.

Experience:
The candidate should have extensive experience with statistical packages and quantitative research techniques, as well as have excellent communication and writing skills. In addition, she or he will have the ability to work independently and also function effectively in a team setting.

Skills:
Expertise in the areas of resource economics, agricultural economics, economic geography or a related discipline. Experience with non-market valuation techniques and ecosystem service research would be considered an asset.
