About this opportunity:

The Retail Asphalt Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales growth and market expansion for our asphalt & emulsion products in Canada. This position will lead a team of sales professionals, develop strategic sales plans, and build strong relationships with key customers to achieve volumetric and financial targets.


This is a front office leadership position, in our downstream marketing department that is focused on optimizing placement of Cenovus' equity refinery production. Our core downstream assets are in western Canada, and Midwest US.

What you'll do:

  • Identify target markets, segments, and customers for sales growth based on market analysis and industry trends.

  • Define clear sales objectives, critical metrics, and targets aligned with the business goals.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers, industry associations and internal partners.

  • Explore new business opportunities, new markets and partnerships that will drive asphalt sales growth in road construction, roofing, and industrial applications.

  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture within the sales team, emphasizing teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Develop & integrate CRM software to track customer interactions, manage sales pipelines, and generate insights for strategic decision-making.

  • Collaborate with R&D and technical services teams to innovate and differentiate asphalt products and solutions to meet evolving customer needs and industry standards.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or related field (master's degree preferred).

  • Proven track record of success in B2B sales, preferably in refined products or construction materials.

  • 10 to 15 years marketing or sales management experience

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with external and internal partners.

  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mentality, capable of developing and implementing sales plans that drive sustainable business growth.

  • Experience with CRM software or Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) systems a benefit.
