Senior Planning Business Analyst - Oil & Gas client
Location: Calgary. 4 days from office, 1 days work home.
Contract: Initially 12 months, with a likely extension

Overall Job Summary
Reporting to the Downstream Application Manager, the primary role of the Senior Business Analyst is to liaise with relevant business teams to gather and manage business requirements. Our business teams include our Downstream Manufacturing facilities, Marketing, Retail and Midstream groups . This role collaborates with Enterprise Architects, Portfolio Architects, Solution Architects, and related technical resources to analyze and validate business requirements. They possess a solid understanding of business specific processes and collaborate with relevant IT Business Partners to develop initial Business Demand Requests (BDRs) artefacts. The role is integral in evaluating business risk associated with identified BDRs.

Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Business and IT Stakeholders, ITBP, Portfolio Architects and Enterprise Architecture to create Business cases for IT projects which includes new solution technology or capability and/or maintenance or enhancements with complexity.
* Lead and participate in the alternative evaluation process; gather high level requirements, assist with score carding solution options, complete total cost of ownership and gather high level project costs.
* Successfully Manage multiple initiatives and deliverables simultaneously.
* Collaborate with Corporate Project Management Office or IT operational teams to properly transition approved projects to Project teams for execution.
* Engagement with Application Advisors for assessment and business case development for requests.
* Facilitate, design and document process mapping when applicable.
* Utilize relevant business analysis techniques to perform solution analysis and design this could include but is not limited to:
o Requirements Management (requirements traceability, baselining, etc.)
o Enterprise Analysis (benchmark studies, feasibility analysis, SWOT, etc.)
o Requirements Elicitation (prototyping, reverse engineering, focus groups, interviews, etc.)
o Requirements Analysis (process modeling, organization modeling, use cases, etc.)
o Solution Assessment and Validation (user acceptance testing, defect and issue reporting,
o etc.)
* Coaching and mentoring of IT operational teams on business analysis technique.

Deliverables
* All deliverables for opportunity assessment & prioritization as well as alternatives evaluation.
* Business Demand Reports: detailed results of business analysis activities at the demand level.
* Process mapping.

Qualifications
Certifications - Academic
* College diploma or university degree in business or information systems or equivalent experience or combination thereof
Certifications Professional
* Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) is considered an asset.
* Project Management Professional (PMP) is considered an asset.
* ITIL Foundations is considered an asset.
* Knowledge of Oil and Gas, specifically Downstream refining and Midstream Pipeline business is considered an asset.

Experience - Role-specific
* Minimum of 5 years direct experience as a Business Analyst,
* Successfully contributing to a range of small to medium initiatives with escalating levels of complexity and business criticality,
* Experience in facilitating change, including collaboration with management stakeholders.

Experience - Industry Specific
* Microsoft Visio
* Microsoft Office Suite
* SharePoint

Abilities - Soft Skills

Qualification
Business Analyst Experience -
Experience using Sharepoint
