Integrated Waste Services at Chalk River Laboratories carries out all types of engineering work. Waste Operations Engineering has the in-house engineers and technical staff to perform design and configuration management activities for waste management areas and beyond. Waste Operations Engineering has the in-house engineers and technical staff to perform design and configuration management activities for Integrated Waste Services.

Our Electrical, Civil and Mechanical staff have the codes, standards and specialized knowledge of the Integrated Waste Services facilities, and its operations to serve Waste Services in the delivery of its operations.

What you will be doing:

  • Conducting field walk-downs.
  • Designing and preparing detail drawings using Inventor and Autocad.
  • Contributing to technical design concepts and detailed design calculations if required.
  • Coordinating with mechanical and electrical designers to determine tagging opportunities, to submit the technical information to various databases to assist with preventative maintenance and configuration management activities.
  • Coordinating with Engineers throughout the life-cycle of the project and work on documentation for close out of change control and history files.
  • Preparing technical documents and conducting analysis of data and report under the supervision of engineer and/or senior designer.

What we are looking for:

  • Applicants should be Mechanical Engineering students.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and have good drafting skills using AutoCAD and Inventor.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Hands on experience in a lab or industrial setting is an asset.
  • Knowledge of or experience in a machine shop setting is an asset.

Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.
