ISL’s Edmonton’s Community Development Team of interfaces with a wide variety of diverse disciplines Community Planning, Landscape Architecture, Transportation, Water and Buildings internally. Externally, the team manages the relationship with independent developers, architects, municipalities and contractors to ensure all stages of development are managed effectively.

  • Variety of Clients – our team works with a variety of clients ranging from private developers to municipalities across central and northern Alberta.
  • Interesting Work – Some notable past projects include Erin Ridge North (St. Albert), Aga Khan Exhibit (UofA Botanic Garden), Laurel Meadows (Edmonton), Brewery District Redevelopment (Edmonton), Garneau Residential Towers (Edmonton), Glengarry District Park (Edmonton), and Grande Prairie Hospital (Grande Prairie).

Your resume should show us:

  • B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and eligible for registration as an EIT with APEGA or P.Eng. designation
  • 8 years of experience where you have been involved with all stages of development within the land development industry.
  • Working knowledge of Civil 3D/AutoCAD/Excel
  • Working knowledge of the design process
  • Experience in large and small-scale projects
  • Evidence that you use technology and innovation tools in your work

You are experienced in navigating fostering strong working relationships with the numerous partners involved in land development and look forward to joining a multidisciplinary organization. You are anticipatory by nature and often see risk before it happens. At this stage of your career you are also looking forward to growing with a team and would be excited by the opportunity to mentor junior staff on all things risk mitigation, business development and offer your technical expertise.

Reporting to the Community Development Manager:

  • Leading the preparation of planning, design, tender and construction administration deliverables, such as design calculations, design drawings, technical reports, tender documents, specifications, cost estimates, and the like.
  • Acting as practice lead for management, delivery and approvals of site development, grading plans and site servicing plan deliverables for development applications in The City of Edmonton and other area municipalities.
  • Providing oversight and input on construction administration and field inspection services for projects.
  • Help mentor developing junior engineers and technologists, acting as a resource for the facilitation of knowledge transfer and career development enhancement among your peers.
  • When acting as project manager, undertaking the full range of related responsibilities including monitoring and being accountable for project financial performance, resource and schedule coordination, and quality ofdeliverables, with the support of your manager and other senior leaders.
  • Interacting effectively and professionally with client representatives, contractors, project stakeholders, co-workers and industry peers, and providing them with excellent service and timely responses.
  • Leading or supporting the preparation of proposals for community development projects and providing support for our business development and client networking initiatives with our expanding client base.
  • Participating in the development and delivery of the overall strategy and business plan for the Community Development discipline at ISL.
