Engineer – Program Manager, Senior

The Engineer – Program Manager, Senior position is responsible for independently working as a manager assigned to a task or project acting as a key customer contact to develop a clear understanding of all customer standards and scope of work. In addition, liaison with suppliers and other internal departments to ensure program or project is completed in a timely manner adhering to budget allocating while exceeding customer expectations. This position will provide technical direction and assist in the training of engineers.

Performance Expectations

  1. Take new projects from the concept stage to production stage.
  2. Ensure all program elements are being tracked to ensure that budgets and timing commitments are maintained
  3. Ensure changes in program status are effectively communicated to all stake-holders.
  4. Identify capital equipment sources.
  5. Supervise buy-off of equipment.
  6. Direct APQP team and activities.
  7. Lead technical component specification, sourcing and supplier development.
  8. Participate in continuous improvements efforts based on feedback from external and internal related performance indicators.
  9. Participate in engineering design and productivity improvement initiatives.
  10. Specify special tools and fixtures where needed.
  11. Estimate cycles times for each operation in the process.
  12. Preparation of quotations.
  13. Maintain control of customer drawings and revisions.
  14. Ensure that the process is capable of producing parts to specifications.
  15. Modify the process and update all relevant documents when necessary.
  16. Keep records, transmit information to other departments.
  17. Write technical proposals which explore new business opportunities, new processes, new products or quality assurance opportunities.
  18. Ability to make presentations to senior management during annual meetings.
  19. Evaluate the ability of current building systems to address increased demands from plant operations.
  20. Complete production and completion schedules to track process and progress of projects.
  21. Establish, review and approve the annual budgets for departments.
  22. Analyze the cost categories of budgets to identify waste reduction measures.
  23. Guide and co-ordinate project teams with various personnel.

Credentials

  • Post-Secondary education in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years experience in a machining or manufacturing environment and a minimum of two years as a program manager.
  • Experience with the use of statistical analysis software and computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining. Computer literate in Solidworks, AutoCAD, proficient in MS Office and MS Project.
